This past weekend, Zack and I went to Atlanta to visit our friends Robbie and Lindsaea for Spring Break. Robbie and Zack have been close since high school, and are both obsessed (to say the least) with the gym. I got dragged there right from the plane, but managed to convince them to take me to Whole Foods afterwards!
*DISCLAIMER*
So far nearly everything we’ve done in Atlanta has been food related (thank god!!), so maybe don’t read this hungry.
Whole Foods’ buffet is incredible and so healthy if you avoid the addicting spicy mac n cheese; I would totally suggest going after a workout.
Zack had a minor panic attack after the gym when he found out Lebron was going to be in town, so we made a last minute decision to go to the Hawks v. Cavaliers game.
My fav part of the game^^
The game was awesome, but I’m sad to say that the Cavs lost:( However, the girl next to me’s scream when she found out how how close we were to Ludacris made up for the loss.
Also, check this guy’s moves when he won a free t shirt!
After the game we were all starving so we headed to StillHouse for burgers and moonshine.
Their deviled eggs are incredible; they use housemade moonshine pickles in the filling.
Blood orange “margarita” made with moonshine instead of tequila. A little sweet for my taste, but I loved the intensity of the blood orange.
Now here’s the real MVP: the PB&J burger. Toasted brioche bun, peanut hummus, fig jam, two patties, fresh peach, blue cheese, and pecans.
One of the best burgers EVER, but the cheese fries have stolen my heart.
Fries smothered in gouda cream sauce. Zack and I had to fight each other for the last fry, and I think you can guess who won 😉
So, I’m somewhat embarrassed to say that the next day we slept till mid afternoon (I won’t specify when), and had only one event worth discussing: dinner.
We trekked down to BoccaLupo for one of the best Italian meals I’ve ever had.
We splurged on the pasta tasting menu and got 4 of the most popular courses the restaurant servers, plus a few of Robbie and Lindsea’s favorites.
Bruschetta with pork, chicken liver, and pickled vegetables. Loved how the tart veggies cut the richness of the pate.
Clockwise from top right: fried cauliflower with meyer lemon and mint, octopus with mortadella and bacon, and prosciutto flatbread with pineapple mostarda.
Please order a full size of the cauliflower if you go!
Fresh pasta tossed with olive oil topped with tuna crudo and caviar.
Squid ink pasta with spicy calabrese sausage, red shrimp, and scallions. Spicy and rich with tons of fried garlic.
Eggplant parm lasagna with shaved brussels sprouts.
Crispy white lasagna with watercress. Good, but I think my white lasagna is better!
Last but absolutely the best: southern fried chicken parm with creamed collards and fresh pasta. Absolutely insanely good especially with the combo of the tomato sauce and white sauce.
This was one of the best desserts I’ve eaten and totally inspires me to try making panna cotta: cream cheese panna cotta with gooseberries and squid ink cookie crumbs.
Scone with maraschino liqueur and mascarpon, goat cheese and pistachios.
Overall, the past 48 hours in Atlanta have been incredible and huuuuuuge shoutout to Robbie and Lindsea for being such great hosts! I hope everyone’s enjoying their spring break!
